Our commitment
to a better world
Food Vision 2027

At Vermaat, our dedication to a healthier, more sustainable, and more social world of food and beverage (F&B) spans over a decade. Building on our corporate social responsibility program and Food Vision 2022, we’ve set ambitious new goals for the next five years. Our Food Vision 2027 is rooted in three essential pillars – People, Product, and Planet – designed to drive significant progress.
Let’s cater for the
future together!
We believe true impact comes from working together. Partnership is central to our Food Vision 2027. We invite everyone – from our clients and guests to suppliers, producers, NGOs, start-ups, experts, and our dedicated employees – to join us in catering for the future together! We know that everyone has a vital role to play in advancing towards a better F&B world.
Three focus areas, six goals
Within our People, Product, and Planet pillars, we’ve developed practical programs to deliver social impact and improve health and sustainability. These three areas represent where we can truly make a tangible difference. Our specific goals for each focus area are outlined below, and we’ve proudly linked them to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to maximize our global contribution.
Our people ambition:
Everyone is welcome

We strive for an open culture where everyone feels welcome and can thrive.
At Vermaat, we are deeply aware of the society we are a part of. We want to contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture where everyone’s unique qualities are respected and encouraged, with equal opportunities for all. We lead by example and work together to achieve these goals.
Creating opportunities for all
At Vermaat, we want to contribute to an inclusive society. This means we foster a culture where people truly feel welcome. We are committed to providing everyone with the opportunity to develop their talents and qualities.
We pay special attention to individuals with barriers to employment, offering them roles within our organization. Driven by our social commitment, we go the extra mile to help those for whom active participation in society is not always self-evident.
Enriching perspectives
We believe that a diverse organization is essential for everyone to grow and feel at home. A diverse management team enriches insights and improves the quality of decision-making. Therefore, we aim for a gender-balanced higher management team by 2027, recognizing this as a significant first step towards a truly diverse organization.
Our SDG contribution
Our People pillar is linked to two SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), through which we contribute to a better and more sustainable world:
SDG 5.5: Ensure full and effective participation of women and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic, and public life.
SDG 10.2: Enable and promote social, economic, and political inclusion of everyone, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, or economic or other status.
Our product ambition:
Only the best for our guests

We strive to positively impact the well-being of our guests.
We are committed to making a positive contribution to the health and overall experience of our guests. In addition to responsibly sourcing and serving delicious food, we actively focus on helping our guests make healthy and conscious choices. We are also dedicated to increasing knowledge about healthy food both within and outside our organization.
Empowering healthier lives
Healthy food is a crucial component of a society where people are healthy and vital. A healthy diet and weight reduce the risk of diseases and often lead to a more active lifestyle. Through the choices we make, we can positively impact the health of our guests. By making healthier options more accessible and sharing knowledge about nutritious food, we help our guests become healthier, more vital, and more productive.
A conscious culinary chain
We can use our F&B choices to minimize the environmental impact of our operations. Through responsible sourcing, we can drive transformation in the food chain, reduce the footprint of our guests and clients, and encourage fair trade. ‘Responsible’ means that when sourcing our products, we recognize every entity in our supply chain has a duty to respect fair labor conditions and pay a living wage.
Regarding animal welfare, we focus on avoiding close confinement for farm animals, ensuring proper nutrition through ready access to water and a diet to maintain health and vigor, and avoiding antibiotic use. To reduce our environmental impact, we prioritize seasonal products originating from Dutch soil. We also contribute to the protein transition by reducing the share of animal products.
Our SDG contribution
Our Product pillar is linked to two SDGs through which we contribute to a better and more sustainable world:
SDG 2.1: Ensure access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food all year round.
SDG 8.4: Improve resource efficiency, production and consumption and strive to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation.
Our planet ambition:
Making every bite count

We strive to reduce our impact on the planet.
At Vermaat, we are acutely aware of the impact our choices and actions have on our planet. We offer our guests an unforgettable yet responsible hospitality experience, making conscious decisions to reduce our environmental impact.
A circular approach
In the F&B world, we unfortunately still generate unnecessary (food) waste. In doing so, we directly contribute to two waste streams that significantly impact the world. We are committed to minimizing our waste and pollution throughout the entire chain and working with our stakeholders to determine how we can prevent, reduce, or give value to our residual streams.
Towards Net-Zero
We are aware of global warming and are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our operations. The Paris Agreement sets the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 95% by 2050. We recognize that F&B production generates greenhouse gases and are dedicated to contributing to their reduction. We are committed to reducing our Scope 1 & 2, as well as our Scope 3, emissions. Our ultimate goal is to be Net-Zero by 2045.
Our SDG contribution
Our Planet pillar is linked to three SDGs that contribute to a better and more sustainable world.
SDG 12.3: Reducing global food waste at retail and consumer levels and reducing food loss in production and supply chains.
SDG 12.5: Substantial waste reduction through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse.
SDG 13.2: Integrating climate-related measures into the strategy.
